Karin Lanini Arthofer, also known as KLAart Design, was born and raised in Switzerland and moved to London ten years ago in search of more space for her creativity. With experience in both interior design and fashion, Karin's life has always been immersed in art and style, although painting came into her life only recently. Her non-binary art is a natural manifestation of contemporary and abstract visual art, seamlessly integrating to decorate both modern and classic spaces.
She has sold numerous works to private collectors and has held both private and online exhibitions. Supported by galleries and in collaboration with interior designers, she has exhibited at various hospitality venues in London and Switzerland.
"Abstract and contemporary art has become for me a fascinating channel of instinctive expression, without fears and limits, for inner exploration. Each project is an artistic journey into uncharted territories, where painting serves as a tool to peer into my inner world, acting as a meditation to reach a profound peace. With enthusiasm and a passion for life and nature, I express the emotions they evoke by pouring them onto blank canvases, bringing my creations to life. Everyday objects, life experiences, stories, and encounters during travels around the world, as well as in daily life, serve as sources of inspiration. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, curiosity, and creativity, I love to experiment with techniques and new materials, bringing to life 3D effects and sculptured.
I love using natural materials derived from nature, the colours of mother earth, adding metallic elements to give even more value to my works. I collect sands, shells, newspaper articles, and significant mementoes from my travels or from my excursions in the Swiss mountains, to create pieces that remind me of how experiences can illuminate something greater, for me and for others. I adore giving volume and transforming flat canvases into sculptures, allowing the final project to interact with the viewer.
My art evolves through the fusion of unexpected and spontaneous elements, where each material reacts and blends with the others. The balance between unexpected grooves, random fissures, and spontaneous reliefs creates an indefinable harmony, inspiring the creation of a unique narrative on each blank canvas. The final result is often an unexpected surprise, non-replicable and therefore unique, just like each of us. This balance escapes rigid definitions, leaving ample room for unpredictability, breaking free from conventional boundaries to convey emotions and meanings that go beyond words, allowing each viewer to find their own interpretation."
