I called this painting “Distraction” because it comes from my reflection on the way the mind constantly moves between thoughts, emotions, memories and stimuli, never quite managing to stand still.
The circles represent this continuous movement of thought: we return to the same questions, memories and emotions, almost as if caught in a cycle that is difficult to escape.
The shapes overlap and become confused. They reflect my idea of a mind searching for a point of focus yet constantly being pulled somewhere else.
For me, distraction exists on two levels: it is what captures our gaze, and what captures our mind.
The circles draw the eye away from the abstract composition, becoming something to focus on within something that was never meant to have a fixed meaning.
Perhaps that is the paradox of the painting: we look for something to hold on to, while the real intention is simply to let ourselves be distracted.
