“Emissary” seeks to carry a message: a fragment of a wall emerging from time. Layers, abrasions and traces of texture evoke an almost archaeological quality, as if the work were preserving the marks of those who passed before and the memories they left behind.
No recognisable figure appears in this painting. At its centre, a subtle yet unmistakable form emerges, moving across the surface like a message rising from the material itself a silent presence, an emissary between what has been and what remains visible.
Although it evokes an ancient artefact, “Emissary” exists within a contemporary setting. Now part of a private collection, it lives within a modern space where its weathered materiality enters into dialogue with the clean architecture surrounding it.
In this meeting between the ancient and the contemporary, the painting becomes more than an object on the wall: it becomes a bridge between two dimensions, creating a sense of balance between memory, material and inhabited space.
