The title "Orphic Twins" carries a rich legacy of meanings, evoking a sense of mystery while exploring complex and fascinating themes, intertwining myth, emotion, and symbolism. The painting(s) "Orphic Twins" from my series "Plunge" can be interpreted as two entities or aspects that, although distinct, are inseparable in their spiritual significance. They represent the balance between two complementary elements, visible in the reliefs, where one is the missing part of the other.

In symbolism, twins often represent duality and complementarity, symbolising two aspects of the same reality, opposites yet interconnected, like light and shadow, life and death, body and soul. The adjective "Orphic" refers to Orpheus, a Greek mythological figure I have depicted with a celestial and mythical turquoise. Orpheus is known for his enchanting music and his connections with mystery and spirituality. The mystery is akin to that which lies behind each layer of this artwork. As can be glimpsed, there are at least five layers before reaching the final emotion.

This project aims to evoke images of a spiritual journey, characterised by the exploration of dualities. It represents the intrinsic dualism between reason and instinct, an inner work I confront day by day through painting, following my instinct as a priori. These two mirrored paintings, despite their differences, share an indissoluble bond and a common destiny, thus it would be a real shame to separate them. What do you think?
